Abstract

Ādam's Paradise or the Garden of Ādam is an important topic in the Qur'an, Hadith and the Bible. Both the Quran and the Bible agree that when Allah created Ādam and his wife, He placed him in Paradise or the Garden of Ādam. Now there is a difference of opinion as to whether it was Paradise or Garden of Eden in the heavens or on earth۔ According to the biblical text, that garden was on the earth. A big river came out to water this garden, then that big river was divided into four smaller rivers, which are named Pison, Gihon, Tigris and Euphrates. Two rivers Tigris and Euphrates are also known, while the other two rivers are unknown. In the Qur'an, the location of Ādam's paradise is not clearly determined whether it was in the heavens or on earth. From the general views of the Holy Qur'an, there are indications that Paradise was in the heavens. Among Muslims, the majority of the scholars (Ulamas) of Ahle Sunnah wal Jama'at agree that Paradise was in the heavens. Shia scholar (Ulama) believe that the paradise or garden in which Ādam and Eve were settled was in this world. ۔In this article, important arguments related to the subject are mentioned in the light of Quran, Hadith and Bible.
